Essex County Soil and Water Conservation district offers time and materials to educators for free. These resources can be adapted for all ages and used in the classroom or at events! Materials can be reserved and scheduled for almost anytime.

Em2 River Stream table-

The model is 6ft by 2ft and uses recycled plastics to demonstrate fluvial geomorphology. Its appropriate for all ages. The Stream Table makes for great labs and STEM activities.
Transport and setup can be arranged if you do not have a truck or SUV available.

Includes all materials (toys, sand, demonstration equipment) except for the required water.

Common lessons used with video examples and a teaching guide can be found here: www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLVa74th2F4P9p-mj-KIrlls8D5l6D1tb-
The Envrioscape is a 4ft by 3ft interactive demonstration table that comes with "pollutant" materials for demonstration. This is a great introduction demo to nonpoint source and point source pollutions and works with all ages. A good quick interactive lab thats easy to reset for multiple classes. Easy to transport and set up but it can get messy.

The Enviroscape comes with a lesson plan inside the case. However video versions can be found here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=W6KLXsl-J9k&pp=ygUTZW52cmlvc2NhcGUgbGVzc29ucw%3D%3D

Intended for classroom use  for grades 4-6. The goal of the program is get kids outside and thinking about their local environment. The program focuses on native trees for the area of students. It is usually taught by SWCD Staff however it is just as manageable for teachers to do this program on their own with materials provided by staff.

There are two portions, the first half  is usually in the classroom where staff talk about the trees and their purpose  and the second is outside having them use the characteristics to Identify the trees and have more discussion about the students impact.

At the end of the program the class is given identification indexes to use in the class. The length of the program can be anywhere from an hour to three hours depending on class size, species available, location  , and participation.
